Australian Visitor Visa for Indians
The Australian Visitor visa for Indians consists of a tourist stream and a business visitor stream.

The Australian Tourist Visa from India – Visitor visa (Tourist stream) (subclass 600)
This Visa Allows the Applicant to :
- visit family or friends
- be in Australia as a tourist, for a cruise, or for purposes other than business or medical treatment
- The applicant can study or train for up to 3 months on this visa. If the applicant’s main reason for traveling to Australia is study, a student visa might be more appropriate.
The applicant cannot work.
Cruise
If your cruise enters Australia you will need a visa.
Stay Duration
Up to 12 months. The visa duration is determined on a case by case basis. In general a 3 month stay is granted. It can be extended up to 12 months in certain cases.
Parents of Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents
Australian Visitor Visa for Parents
If a parent or step-parents of an Australian citizen or permanent resident meets the visa criteria, they may be granted a visa valid for more than 12 months. Each application is considered individually.
If the visa is granted for longer than 12 months, the parents or step-parents may be able to enter Australia multiple times while the visa is still valid. A stay longer than 12 months in a total 18 month period is not permitted. Appropriate health insurance arrangements must be in place.
The parent or step-parent may also be eligible for a Sponsored Parent (Temporary) visa. This allows them to stay longer than 12 months on each visit.

- Applicant must intend to come to Australia to visit only

Eligibility

Extending Stay

Australian Business Visa – Visitor visa (Business visitor stream)(subclass 600)
This Visa Allows the Applicant to:
- Make general business or employment enquiries

- Take part in a conference or trade fair. You can’t be paid by the organisers to take part
- Conduct activities as part of an official government visit
The Applicant Must Not :
- Work for or provide services to a business or organisation based in Australia
- Sell goods or services directly to the public

This visa can be granted with a single entry or multiple entry. If the visa has multiple entry, the applicant can leave and return to Australia on the visa while it is valid. Generally, a stay of 3 months is granted. A stay of up to 12 months may be granted in certain circumstances.

Documents that prove a change of name include:
- A marriage or divorce certificate
- Change of name documents from an Australian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, or the relevant overseas authority
- Documents that show other names you have been known by
Genuine visitor documents
The applicant must provide as much proof as you can to show they are visiting Australia as a temporary visitor only:
- Proof they have enough money for their stay and to leave Australia, such as:
- Itemised personal bank statements showing a 3 month period
- Pay Slips
- Audited Accounts
- Tax Records
- Term Deposits
- Credit Card Statements
- Your plans while in Australia.
- Show they are a genuine visitor and have reasons to return home by providing:
- A letter from their employer stating they expect them to return to their job
- Proof they are enrolled at a school, college or university in their home country
- Proof they have close family members in their home country
- Evidence of their right to return to your home country
- Proof they own property or other assets in their home country.
Business visitor documents
The applicant must tell what business visitor activities they plan to do in Australia. They can provide:
- An invitation from a host organisation
- Conference registration details
- A letter from your employer stating why you are visiting
- Your plans for your stay and details of your Australian business contacts
- Proof of your current employment and professional qualifications
- Evidence your company is an active business, such as an annual report
- Evidence of prior contact with Australian businesses
Character Documents
- The applicant must provide any military service records or discharge papers, if applicable.
- The applicant may be asked to provide a police certificate.
Additional documents are required for applicants under 18
Document Preparation
The applicant must have all non-English documents translated into English.
Translators in Australia must be accredited by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters.
Translators outside Australia do not have to be accredited. But on each translation, they must include their:
- Full name
- Address and telephone number
- Qualifications and experience in the language they are translating
- These details must be in English.
Note: Documents do not need to be certified unless asked.

- The applicant must scan or photograph all documents (English and non-English) in colour.
- The scans and photos must be clear and legible.
