Singapore is a major financial hub in the Asia-Pacific region and is known to have one of the most flourishing economies. It is also the quintessential shopping and tourist hub. Singapore has many Indians. Malay and Tamil are even two of the official languages in Singapore in addition to English and Mandarin. Multiracialism is a large focus of the constitution and is reflected in the national policies in education, housing and politics. Today we are going to be talking about the Singapore entry visa for Indians. The entry visa is a Singapore visa for Indians that allows business or social visits.

Singapore is relatively close to India and is a very popular destination for Indians for all purposes. There is no Singapore visa on arrival for Indians. The different aspect of applying for a Singapore visa in Singapore is that a “strategic partner” or local contact in Singapore has to file the visa application for the applicant.  A strategic partner is a travel agency authorized by the Singapore government to submit the visa application. 

Indians need a visa to enter Singapore. Holders of diplomatic, official and service passports do not need a visa for entry.

Singapore Visa Requirements – Documents for Entry Visa 

  •  Form 14A must be filled and signed by the applicant.The applicant’s visa application will be made based on the information declared in this form. Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, ICA, may request for the form to be submitted.
  • The applicant’s recent passport-size color photograph taken within the last three months. Please see the photo guidelines for information on photo requirements.
  • A photocopy of your passport biodata page (valid for at least six months from the date of your entry into Singapore).

Additional supporting documents such as Form V39A,  Letter of Introduction for Visa Application (LOI) may be required depending on the case .

Application Process

Applying in Singapore 

The applicant can have a strategic partner or a local contact in Singapore submit their visa application through the e-Service. A strategic partner is a travel agency authorized by the Singapore government to submit the Singapore visa application form. 

The applicant is advised to apply for an entry visa  30 days prior to arrival in Singapore.

Applying at the overseas Singaporean mission. 

The visa application can be submitted at the nearest Singapore Overseas Mission or through its authorized visa agent.

Requirements for applying at a Singapore Overseas Mission

All visitors to Singapore must meet the following entry requirements:

  • Valid travel document (minimum validity of 6 months at the time of departure)
  • Confirmed onward or return tickets (if applicable)
  • Entry facilities, including visas, to the next destination;
  • Sufficient funds to maintain themselves during their stay in Singapore; and,
  • Visa for entry into Singapore (if applicable)
  • Yellow Fever Vaccination (if applicable)

Social Visit Purpose Requirements 

The visitor must appear for immigration clearance at their point of entry into Singapore. They must fulfill the following basic requirements before they can be considered for entry into Singapore:

  • A passport that is valid for at least six months
  • Sufficient funds for the length of the intended stay
  • A submitted SG Arrival Card
  • A valid Singapore entry visa (to check whether visa is required, see Visa Requirements)
  • A confirmed onward or return ticket (where applicable)
  • Evidence that you can enter your next destination (for example, a visa)
  • A Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate, if applicable
  • Proof of prior entry approval (e.g. SafeTravel Pass under Green/Fast lane arrangements, Air Travel Pass, approval letter of entry, etc.)

Visitor Pass

If the visitor is eligible for entry, they will receive a Visit Pass which will indicate the period of stay granted. The visitor must check their Visit Pass and the number of days they can stay before leaving the checkpoint.

After 10 Oct 2021, all foreign visitors arriving in Singapore via air will be notified digitally of their Visit Pass (e-Pass) through email. There will not be any endorsement on their passport. The e-Pass notification will indicate the period of stay granted and last day of stay allowed. The visitor must ensure a valid email address when submitting the SG Arrival Card.

While in Singapore and on a visit pass, the visitor is not permitted to engage in any business, professional or paid employment activities.

Singapore Visa Extension – Entry Visa

Overstaying is a punishable offence in Singapore. If the visitor wishes to stay beyond the time period granted, they can apply for an extension online. This can be done using the e-services or by going to the Visitor Services Centre on Level 4 of the ICA building before the Visit Pass expires. An extension of stay may be granted depending on the case.

A S$30 non-refundable processing fee is payable online using a Visa or MasterCard credit/debit card.

Processing Time 

The visa application will be processed within three working days after the day of submission. Some applications may take longer to process.

Collection

If the application is approved, the local contact, strategic partner or authorized visa agent can use the e-Service to print a copy of the e-Visa for the visitor.
