1. Punjab Grill, Venetian Village, Ritz Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal
Punjab Grill is one of the best North Indian restaurants in Abu Dhabi. It has many fresh and innovative dishes. The small plates give an excellent idea of this. Sweet potato and star fruit chaat, palak patta chaat, watermelon slider and sprouts chaat and beetroot tikki are all creative and fruity options for starters. Vegetarian dishes include paneer Multani and tandoori mushroom. Some of the other options in seafood are salmon tikka, zafrani jhinga, coconut prawns and baked lobster tikka masala. There is also dal makhani, pindi chole and methi aloo.
2. Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor, The Galleria, Al Maryah Island, Abu Dhabi
Sanjeev Kapoor is one of the best known chefs in India. This really shows in the irresistible menu at Signature. In cold delicacies, Signature serves a mango quinoa salad, a curried melon and pineapple salad and a chicken tikka kuchumber. There is also a very interesting saag paneer ki seekh, tandoori cochin chicken and curried kokum lobster. The desserts include three flavours of rasmalai – mocha, nutella and charcoal. The Mango bhapa doi or steam baked yoghurt is yet another decadent dessert. The pistachio falooda kulfi is also a signature dish of this restaurant.
3. Peppermill, Al Wahda Mall, 2nd floor Extention, Al Wahda, Abu Dhabi
Peppermill specializes in North Indian and Mughlai food. In the tandoori section, the dhaniya murg and mahi tikka stand out at first glimpse. There are several innovative vegetarian dishes here such as tandoori aloo, soybean kebab, malai broccoli and ghongra paneer tikka. In the seafood section they have Pondicherry seafood curry, jhinga makhnwala and kadai jhinga. The types of Biryani available at Peppermill are prawn, chicken, mutton and vegetable biryani. The desserts here are gulab jamun with rabdi, rasmalai, berry phirni with blue berries and shaahi tukda.
4. Namak, Dusit Thani, Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi
Namak showcases the cuisines of several regions of India and has a very vibrant restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Amongst the slightly different options here are the tandoori salmon, jhinga lasooni, Rajasthani shahi raj kachodi and khumb palak makai, with mushrooms, spinach and corn kernels. Konkan prawn masala and spicy pomfret are also some exciting options. The dessert options are lacchedar falooda rabri, pista kulfi, gajar ka halwa, kesari rasmalai, gulab jamun and ice cream and sorbet in 6 flavours.
5. Angar, W Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi
The deserts here are so interesting that one can begin with them. First up is an opera cake called desi opera. It is filled with srikhand and gajar halwa. Next is a chocolate cardamom cake with saffron ice cream. This tempting menu also has rasmalai with fresh berries and gulab jamun. Lastly we have a medley of very innovative ice cream flavors. The flavors are masala chai, thandai, mint and pistachio. Angar also has some different kinds of naans such as chilli garlic naan, zaatar and red onion naan and Peshawari naan with coconut, almonds and raisins.
6. Via Delhi, Najda, Abu Dhabi
Via Delhi is known for its North Indian and Chinese food. The breakfast menu serves 5 kinds of parathas, choley bathure and kabab rolls. Via Delhi also serves vegetable and chicken momos, home style maggi and shawarmas. A great highlight here is the Delhi-style Chinese food. Their dishes straight from the tandoor also bring to mind vivid images of Delhi tandoori food. In desserts they offer moong dal halwa, gulab jamun, fruit ice cream, banana split and a choice of ice creams. One can also get the combination of gulab jamun with ice cream here.
7. Asha’s, Al Markaziya, Abu Dhabi
Asha’s is a South Indian restaurant in Abu Dhabi. Kerala chilli garlic prawns, the vegetable kebab platter and the emperor platter with assorted kebabs are some irresistible options here. In vegetarian options there is a shahi paneer biryani. There is also a prawn biryani. Asha’s also has a vegetarian thali and a chicken thali.
8. Indigo, Beach Rotana, Tourist Club Area (Al Zahiyah), Abu Dhabi
Indigo has some of the finest Indian food in Abu Dhabi. The restaurant has many classic dishes. They even have a wonderful kid’s menu. This menu has tiger prawn moilee, butter chicken morsels, quick veggie cheesy quesadilla, aloo tikki, crunchy panko fish sticks and vegetable biryani.
