By granting 40,00,000 additional options in addition to the current 87,50,000 options, the company proposes to increase the number of employee stock options (referred to as \&quot;Options\&quot;) that may be issued under the Shriram Life Insurance Company Limited Employees Stock Option Scheme 2013. Each Option would be eligible for the allocation of one equity share of the face.

Shriram Life Insurance Company (SLIC) on Thursday said the firm is planning to maximise rural penetration and double its business through several digital initiatives and platforms.

*Update on operShriram Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (SLIC) for the month of May 2021*  As per IRDAI, SLIC has attained substantial increase in new business premium (NBP) receipts (i.e. first year premium receipts incl. single premium receipts), *NBP stood at Rs.40.62 crores for the period the month of May 2021 and has been increased by staggering ~104 percent from Rs.19.94 crores during May 2020*  *The growth rate of 104 percent is highest among all the 23 private life insurers and followed by India First Life Insurance attaining growth rate of ~77 percent*  PS-We thought the extraordinary growth is on account of low base of the previous year owing to lockdown thus we had compared the said NBP income of Rs.40.62 crores against the premium income as was reported to IRDAI in the month of May 2019, which amounted to Rs.48.50 crores, thus resulting in an absolute degrowth rate of 16.25 percent, and amongst the 23 private insurers, SLIC stands at tenth position in terms of said growth. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. has said that its unlisted insurance subsidiary has seen a spike in death claims during the second wave of Covid-19 and is expected to report a loss. Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance Co.’s estimated claims net of reinsurance for the quarter ending June is expected to be “significantly higher than expected”, according to the lender’s exchange filing. It expects to incur an estimated loss of Rs 225-275 crore for the quarter on account of increased claims and higher mortality related provisioning  . 

Private sector Shriram Life Insurance, which has been focussing on rural markets, is hoping to grow by 15-20 per cent on an annual basis.  “The expectation is that the life insurance industry will grow by about 15 per cent or so for the next number of years. So we hope to grow slightly faster than that — maybe between 15 per cent and 20 per cent per year,” said Casparus Kromhout, Managing Director and CEO, Shriram Life Insurance.  While the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has raised further uncertainties on the economic outlook, Kromhout said the life insurer has been putting a lot of things in place for supporting its existing channels. It has also been working on innovation and creating new business models.

NEW DELHI: Shriram Life Insurance Company on Friday reported a three-fold jump in profit after tax to Rs 106 crore for the fiscal year ended March 2021.  The company's profit after tax has grown three-times to Rs 106 crore in FY20-21, backed by technology adoption and an increase in rural penetration as the company continues to serve the community at large, Shriram Life Insurance Company (SLIC) said in a release. Its profit stood at Rs 35 crore in FY20.  Even during these unprecedented times, the company was able to grow its gross premium by 23 per cent, crossing the milestone of Rs 2,000 crore, it added.
