# Getting Started with SBNRI

This guide explains how NRIs can begin using SBNRI to manage their Indian finances.

## Step 1 - Download the SBNRI App or Visit the Website

SBNRI is accessible via:

## Step 2 - Create Your Account

Sign up using your mobile number or email address. NRIs from all countries can register.

Required at sign-up:
- Valid mobile number
- Email address
- Country of residence

## Step 3 - Complete Your KYC

KYC (Know Your Customer) is mandatory for all financial services in India. SBNRI supports fully online, paperless KYC, with no visit to India required.

Documents required for NRI KYC:
- Passport (mandatory)
- PAN card (mandatory - apply via SBNRI if you do not have one)
- Overseas address proof (utility bill, bank statement, or visa)
- Recent passport-size photograph

KYC is a one-time process and is valid across all SBNRI services.

## Step 4 - Link Your NRE or NRO Bank Account

To invest or transact, NRIs must link an NRE (Non-Resident External) or NRO (Non-Resident Ordinary) account. SBNRI can help you open one if you do not already have one.

- **NRE Account:** Best for investing foreign income in India. Tax-free interest. Fully repatriable.
- **NRO Account:** Best for managing income earned in India (rent, pension, dividends). Interest taxable in India.

## Step 5 - Choose Your Services

Once KYC and bank account are in place, NRIs can immediately access:
- Mutual fund investments (SIP or lump sum)
- Fixed deposit comparisons and booking
